Birmingham Children’s Theatre is holding auditions for The Jungle Book
BIRMINGHAM, AL
Birmingham Children’s Theatre is seeking performers aged 18+ for our touring summer production ofThe Jungle Book. Directed by Irealle Sylvas.
BIPOC ARTISTS ARE HIGHLY ENCOURAGED TO SUBMIT for all productions.
(LOCAL HIRE ONLY) All positions are Paid. The production time commitment will be from around May 26th, 2026 through July 25th, 2026. Rehearsals and performances take place in 4 to 5 hour sessions during daytime hours, typically Tuesday – Saturday between the hours of 8:00am and 4:00pm.
In-person auditions will be held at Birmingham Children’s Theatre on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, from 4:00–5:30 PM. Callbacks will take place from 5:30–7:00 PM and will be by invitation only.
To request an audition time: send your headshot and resume to Kim Davenport, Director of Production, at auditions@bct123.org no later than Tuesday, April 14th at 5 pm.
Please prepare a 60–90 second audition piece. This can be either one or two contrasting monologues, or a monologue with a brief song selection (optional). While this is not a musical, there are a few moments that may involve light singing.
We are looking for performers with a strong sense of play, physicality, and movement, as well as the ability to interact and improvise with audience members. Please indicate on your resume if you have any experience with tumbling, gymnastics, cheer, or other movement-based skills (not required).
Productions Details: The Jungle Book will be a touring production, performing at libraries and venues throughout Alabama through the months of June and July.
Rehearsals will take place from May 26th - June 18th, 2026. (tentative, final dates subject to change)
Performances are scheduled between June 20th and July 25th. Performance times are flexible with our touring schedule, but are typically during daytime hours Tuesdays - Saturdays. Performances at the libraries will take place Saturdays at 10:30am. (There will be no performances the week of June 28th - July 4th.)

Students are welcome to audition for our season as well, but must be available during school hours for rehearsals and performances. Youth auditions will be listed separately. You must be 16 years or older to be compensated as an actor.
