Who’s Who

Tam DeBolt (Director) is thrilled to be back at BCT!! She is the Executive Director of Terrific New Theatre (TNT) and is grateful for the opportunity to direct this fun twist on A Christmas Carol. In addition to guiding TNT for the last five years, Tam has been seen ON the stages of many of the theaters in town. Credits include: TNT (Adult Allison - Fun Home and Sophie Tucker - Last of the Red Hot Mamas), Red Mountain Theatre (Mama Rose - Gypsy, Madame Thenardier - Les Miserables, and Mrs. Lovett - Sweeney Todd), BCT (multiple shows). Tam was recently seen by the kids of Birmingham – standing in front of the Alabama Symphony Orchestra as narrator in the October Education Concert of When Instruments Roamed the Earth.

Chris Charleston (James) was born in Detroit Michigan to a mother that made up silly songs to make him laugh, and a Father that would rather listen to the soundtrack to Man of La Mancha or Jesus Christ Superstar than Lynyrd Skynyrd any day of the week. His love of performance started at a young age and took him to strange, wonderful locations all around the Southeast in his early twenties. Some of his favorite theatre credits include Les Miserables, Man 2 in Songs For a New World, Paul in Company, Demitrius in A Midsummer Night's Dream, and Doctor Horrible in Doctor Horrible's Singalong Blog.

Caleb Clark (Andrew) has been seen on the BCT stage most recently in A Year with Frog and Toad and Bunnicula. Other favorite projects include Matilda (Trunchbull) at Red Mountain Theatre, Buyer and Cellar (Alex) at Terrific New Theatre, Shrek the Musical (Shrek) at the Alliance Theatre, and The Importance of Being Earnest (Algernon) at Georgia Shakespeare. In addition to his work in the theatre, Caleb appears regularly as a soloist with sacred and secular ensembles including the Alabama Symphony Orchestra and the Temple Emanu-El Choir.

Labrina Riles (Vicky) is from Bessemer, Alabama and is a recent graduate from the University of Montevallo. Her past credits include: Stick Fly, Chicago, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, and Hair. She is excited to be working at BCT as her first professional theatre job! She would  love to express how grateful she is of everyone involved in the process for creating the show!

We are Grateful for YOU!

Looking back on the last year, we are awed by the support and dedication of our staff, artists, audiences and supporters like you! As we approached 2021, we at Birmingham Children’s Theatre knew that our work and art would need to continue to adapt, evolve, and grow for this new era of the organization, and we are very proud of how far we’ve come.

This year saw the return of in-person performances - first with tours to schools and then, this fall, in opening the doors of our theatre and welcoming audiences once again to the theatre. And while many new considerations have been put in place to protect the health and safety of all involved, it feels nothing short of amazing to be engaging with our young audiences once again!

While we continue to move forward with new and exciting programming, our struggles are far from over as the ever-changing conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic continue to interrupt even our best laid plans. Every donation helps BCT pay their artists fairly, keep our ticket prices low, and provide high-quality productions for youth of all ages. If you enjoy the show today and want to see more great work from BCT, we invite you to support Birmingham Children’s Theatre with a tax-deductible donation today.
