BCT is extremely excited to bring you this BRAND NEW digital content as we all continue to stay safe and shelter in place. We hope you enjoyed our puppet show today! In an effort to bring theatre to the homes of children in Birmingham and beyond, Birmingham Children's Theatre will be producing a series of original puppet shows. Each Wednesday at 9am, a 10-15 minute show written, performed, filmed, and edited by the BCT team will premiere on our Facebook page and here, on our website.

Hope loves the Holidays! All the decorations and treats and LETTERS! But when Hope learns from Mailman Pete that not all of her neighbors have received mail, she sets out to do something about that! This latest installment of BCT's Cardboard Puppet Theatre is our Holiday card to you! We could not be more grateful for the support we have received this year as we navigate the many, many changes brought about by COVID-19. As we close out this truly unprecedented year, we hope you enjoy this bit of light and love, from our (cardboard) theatre to your home!

We are proud to say BCT is one of the few theaters in the country creating brand new content specifically intended for a socially distanced world. With titles like Anita’s Vacation, Harris the Helper, Turtle Takes Her Time, Maddy and the Magic Safari, and Cora Goes Camping, the Cardboard Puppet Theatre offers quirky, inventive programming that entertains even as it helps young audiences process these new and uncertain times. Bailee is the smartest kid in her class. She is also the only Black student. Her teacher, Mr. Connor, never calls on her and Bailee wonders if he even sees her. Not only does Bailee work hard at her lessons, she also has to work hard to be seen. With support from her friends, Bailee stands up for herself and fights for equality in her classroom.
"Science is Fun" by Sina Skates, is about two best friends who don't see eye to eye on the subject of science. LaNell loves science (because science is fun)! Zane is not so sure about science (or what it even is). Join LaNell as he helps Zane discover why the scientific method is important, helpful, and (most importantly) FUN!
"Evy and the Pirates," by Sina Skates follows Evy and her younger sister, Sophie, on a quest to find their missing dad. When they discover he's been captured by greedy pirates, Evy uses her wit and resourcefulness to devise a rescue mission.
Cora has been spending a lot more time indoors than she's used to. With some help from Dad, Teddy, and a little imagination, Cora goes on a camping adventure in her own backyard. "Cora Goes Camping" by Becca Yeager has s'mores, a talking teddy bear, some helpful fireflies, and a bunch of snuggles.
Maddy is drawing one of her favorite magical creatures and she wants to get the stripes just right, but she’s never met a Zebracorn! What’s an adventurer to do? With her faithful and fearful companion, Puffball, Maddy goes on a fantastical field trip and finds Magical Creatures around every corner!
Feelings can be tricky. No matter what you’re feeling, whether it’s spiky, soft, big or flat, it’s ok. When you acknowledge those feelings, learn to accept them, and start to vocalize them, you begin to realize they aren’t so tricky after all. When we come together, listen, and share.. it’s easy to roll along.
“Goodnight Koala” by Daniel Martin is a whimsical, interactive tale about tucking in for the night. Koala is sleepy, but he needs help getting ready for bed. Can you help Koala remember all the things he needs to do before it is time to go to sleep? We hope you enjoy our cuddliest puppet show yet!
Turtle is different than her friends. Hare is fast, Monkey loves to climb, and Frog is great at tying shoes. But Turtle doesn’t know where she can shine. With the help of her friend Snail, and some self-reflection, Turtle learns the power of persistence.
Harris loves to play and he loves to help! Joining forces with his mom and his Aunt Clare, Harris explores all the different ways he can be a helper, both real and imaginary.
Anita has been looking forward to her family’s super-awesome mega-fun vacation road trip to the beach all year! But mom has some bad news: the vacation has been cancelled. Anita is very sad, but her brother Jermaine has an idea -- he’s going to plan a new super-awesomer even-more-mega-fun family vacation world tour!
